We have been using the recommended Altec silicone tubing for our pumps. The Operation manual recommends storing the tubing for the pumps in alcohol, but it does not specify which type of alcohol or at what concentration. I assumed 20% ethanol would be fine, but the tubing has discolored and is now completely opaque.
We have used 70% ethanol, as have several other labs I know, and we have not had such issues. Potentially might it be due to media/cells or residue thereof in the tube?
